India in Cricket World Cup
India is one of those nations that have been a part of the ICC Cricket World Cup since its very start i.e. the year 1975. Till date, the team has participated in each and every series of the tournament.
Of all the ten World Cups in which India has participated so far, it has won two, in the year 1983 and 2011. In 1983, the final match of the series, the team defeated West Indies by 43 runs while in 2011, the final match, India won by 6 wickets beat Sri Lanka. India became the first nation to win a world cup final on home soil.
